BIRDIES FOR BREAST CANCER is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, that focuses its efforts on raising money for breast cancer research. It was founded in 2003 when I learned that my mother, Linda Kerr, was diagnosed with the disease. She fought so hard to beat this terrible cancer and fortunately she recovered and is doing well. My Aunt (Linda’s sister) and my Godmother have also battled this disease….and fortunately are in remission and doing well. Our family saw first hand what this disease could
do and we were among the really lucky ones. I knew I had to do something to help fight this horrible disease that had afflicted our family. I thought about how lucky we were to be healthy and thought of those less fortunate then us. After speaking to Evelyn Lauder, founder of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and learning what great progress has been made through properly funded research, I decided to take action. So in 2003…a few months after my mother was diagnosed…Birdies for Breast Cancer was born.
